Shortly after COVID hit, Matthew Wedin was furloughed from his landscaping position of 20 years, but he didn’t want to sit around. An opportunity arose with Enoch Pratt Free Library a couple months later, and, with help from our Business Services team, Matt started at their Hamilton Branch.
For someone with a “can-do” attitude who can do it all, Matt quickly jumped into the custodian role at the library. Matt said, "I love working with the people that come in and keeping the library squeaky clean. Plus, I have my own keys to the library." He cleans the librarian stations, dusts and maintains shelves, sanitizes and wipes down desks and computer stations, and steps in wherever he is needed. In preparation for the grand opening of their newly renovated courtyard, Matt assembled all the new outdoor furniture and is quick to tell all visitors to check it out.
