In 1999, Chris Mayer confidently entered The Home Depot and filled out an employment application with support from The Arc Baltimore. Twenty years later, Chris is a mainstay at the Timonium Store as their go-to lot attendant.
For the last 20 years, Chris has shown up, on time, 40 hours a week, in his bright orange apron ready to assist “his” customers in getting their purchases into their cars and maintain the cleanliness of the parking lot by depositing the carts back where they belong. Chris’s supervisor recently acknowledged his work anniversary with a sizeable bonus and his service award patch.
His pleasant demeanor and outgoing personality are a perfect fit for this job. Along with his service anniversary patches, he has collected many customer service patches as well. Chris said, “My customers and co-workers are nice people to work with. I love helping people.”
Staff from The Arc Baltimore have been a part of Chris’ life for decades supporting him both at his apartment and at work. We’ve witnessed his many successes throughout that time, and we look forward to celebrating his 25th!
